The Anoma Foundation completed two fundraising rounds in 2020 and 2021 respectively, both led by Polychain Capital, with the participation of funds including Coinbase Ventures, P2P Capital, Figment, ZKV, Maven 11, Chorus One, Lemniscap, CMS, Wicklow Capital, Informal Systems, and the Interchain Foundation.

Anoma is the first ever intent-centric architecture, introducing a new paradigm for building infrastructure layers and a new operating system for decentralized applications. Anoma’s intent-centricity introduces novel primitives that allow existing web2.5 dApps to be fully decentralized, such as optimistic and ZK rollups, DEXs, NFT marketplaces, or public goods funding applications like Gitcoin.

Anoma Foundation’s 3rd Fundraising Round Garners USD 25M for Intent-Centric Architecture


**Zug, Switzerland, May 31, 2023** — Groundbreaking blockchain technology non-profit the Anoma Foundation is pleased to announce the successful completion of a $25 million fundraising round. The Foundation’s third round, co-led by prominent blockchain-focused VC firm CMCC Global, kicks off the race to bring the third generation of blockchains to market – and replace the legacy financial system with one that returns power to users.

Several prominent industry players pledged investment during the financing phase, including Electric Capital, Delphi Digital, Dialectic, KR1, Spartan, NGC, MH Ventures, Bixin Ventures, No Limit, Plassa, Perridon Ventures, Anagram, and Factor. In addition, over 30 angel investors from founders of L1s and dApps to ZK cryptographers endorsed the Foundation’s vision.

This significant financial backing demonstrates the widespread recognition and support for Anoma’s innovative intent-centric architecture, which represents a new paradigm for building blockchain infrastructure layers.

The Anoma Foundation Announces the 3rd Fundraise for Anoma


**Zug, Switzerland** — Namada, the Layer-1 blockchain for multi-chain privacy, has proposed a partnership with fellow L1 Osmosis, home of the interchain DEX of the same name. The proposal was made by Namada co-founder Christopher Goes on the Osmosis governance forum.

The potential partnership would see Namada and Osmosis strengthen the already close ties that exist between the projects, with a particular focus on enhancing multi-chain privacy for users. Collaboration between Namada and Osmosis in this capacity is intended to enrich the respective ecosystems and bring a raft of benefits, particularly to holders of $OSMO tokens, stakers and LP’ers who would be eligible for an upcoming Namada airdrop.

According to Goes, the L1 blockchain platform is interested in allocating continuous public goods funding to a grants pool managed by the Osmosis Grants Program, with the goal of funding projects that offer benefit to both the Osmosis and Namada ecosystems. Moreover, Namada would implement Shielded Actions, a feature which allows $OSMO holders and Osmosis users to seamlessly benefit from both the privacy features of Namada and the trading capabilities of Osmosis.

Although the proposal has not yet been carried forward, Heliax – the blockchain research and development firm behind both Namada and upcoming intent-centric protocol Anoma – already has an ongoing partnership with Osmosis Labs, the development team behind Osmosis. Both are busy developing synergistic features that benefit both ecosystems.

Namada leverages an upgraded version of the ZK technology pioneered by Zcash, enabling any digital asset to be transacted privately – including non-fungible tokens. Namada co-founder Christopher noted that he has known Osmosis Labs’ co-founders Sunny and Dev since their days working together at Tendermint Inc., a core contributor to the Cosmos network, in Berkeley, California. Last year, Heliax and Osmosis Labs collaborated on Ferveo, a fast threshold decryption protocol for Mempool Privacy on BFT consensus blockchains.


Namada Proposes Partnership with Osmosis to Enhance Multichain Privacy


**Zug, Switzerland** – Christopher Goes, co-founder of [Namada](https://namada.net), the L1 blockchain for multichain privacy, has proposed an airdrop to transparent and shielded ZEC holders as a mechanism for retroactive public goods funding directly to folks who have financially supported [Zcash](https://z.cash/) development in the past by holding and using the ZEC asset.

The Anoma Foundation plans to include in Namada’s genesis block proposal an allocation for a direct airdrop (allocation of NAM, the Namada staking token) as part of at least 20% of Namada’s genesis block proposal to [Retroactive Public Goods Funding](https://blog.namada.net/namada-rpgf-program/), to current Zcash holders. Distribution of the airdrop may happen in stages after mainnet Namada is live later this spring.

This airdrop would cover all ZEC, including both transparent and shielded. While many transparent airdrops have been done before, this will be the first time an airdrop is done directly to shielded ZEC holders (who can claim without compromising their privacy). This process relies upon the convert circuit pioneered by Namada, which allows the airdrop to be done in a fully shielded fashion.

The exact parameters of the airdrop are yet to be determined, but the rates will be calibrated such that shielded ZEC receives slightly more than transparent ZEC, in order to reward past and current users of Zcash who have contributed to shared privacy.

This airdrop is proposed alongside other funding mechanisms such as the establishment of a grants pool and a possible future donation to the Zcash Sustainability Fund or other protocol-level funding mechanism adopted by the Zcash community. These explorations are part of the proposed strategic alliance between Zcash and Namada, with the goal of helping to align the interests of both networks and encourage continued collaboration in the long-term.

Multichain Privacy Protocol Namada is First One to propose a Shielded Airdrop to ZEC


**Zug, Switzerland** – A strategic alliance between Namada, a L1 blockchain for multichain privacy, and Zcash has been proposed by Christopher Goes, Co-Founder of Namada. The arrangement will see the communities and ecosystems of both networks, Zcash and Namada, collaborate in research and development in multiple areas, including cross-chain bridging, proof-of-stake mechanism design, and shielded multi-signature accounts. Namada will also explore retroactive and proactive funding mechanisms for the development of the Zcash ecosystem.

Namada is the first protocol that brings shared zero-knowledge privacy to users of the multichain. Namada leverages an upgraded version of the world-class ZK technology initially developed by the ECC and pioneered by Zcash. Namada’s cryptography enables any asset to be transacted privately, including both fungible and non-fungible tokens. Multichain Privacy Protocol Namada Proposes a Strategic Alliance With Zcash


_In anticipation of the upcoming mainnet launch of Namada, the foundation is planning to recommend a genesis block with a minimum of 20% allocated to privacy tech builders and advocates for prior contributions._

**31 January 2023** - The Anoma Foundation, which fosters the development and sustainability of the Anoma ecosystem, has today announced that it is making a substantial sum of retroactive public goods funding available to projects that contribute to common causes of privacy and autonomy. The funding scope covers research and technical implementation work in relevant fields, public advocacy for the right to privacy, and artistic and community efforts to help realize a private, flourishing world.

In anticipation of the upcoming mainnet launch of Anoma’s first fractal instance, Namada, a proof-of-stake layer 1 for interchain asset-agnostic shielded transfers, the foundation plans to recommend a genesis block with at least 20% of initial token supply dedicated to retroactive public goods funding.The foundation will allow anyone, including entrants, to nominate a third party. If selected, both the nominee and the person who nominated them will be rewarded for their contribution, incentivizing a symbiotic community within the ecosystem.

**Awa Sun Yin, Co-Founder of Namada and Anoma said:** “Privacy-preserving protocols and applications in the multi-chain are rapidly growing, but this horizontal growth doesn’t lead to better privacy for users because it is often fragmented by currency, platform, and application. Without protocols like Namada, the number of privacy solutions will continue to grow without necessarily improving privacy guarantees for users of these solutions. We want to grow interchain privacy across major ecosystems including Cosmos and Ethereum, which is why we are making this funding available.”

While it is impossible to trace all contributions perfectly, we want to invite the public to help us learn more about important initiatives in the space that may have gone under the radar. By doing this, we can begin to compile a directory and a history of contributions, which is itself a public good, both as a more accurate allocation of credit and as a resource for retroactive distributions performed by future projects.”

The funding is open to a broad spectrum of categories including:

- Research work in cryptography, distributed systems, and cryptoeconomics, especially concerning designs which Namada uses, such as zero-knowledge proofs, Tendermint BFT, and proof-of-stake.
- Implementation work in cryptography, distributed systems, cryptoeconomics, and data structures, especially code which Namada imports directly or is inspired by.
- Public advocacy work defending individual and collective rights to privacy, free speech, and self-determination.
- Local meetups, user groups, and online tutorials which help people understand what privacy technology is available and how to protect themselves.
- Art, speculative fiction, and critical analysis reflecting on the role of technology in individual and cultural consciousness related to privacy.

Nominations must be submitted by the 5th of March 2023, when the Anoma Foundation will compile these into a recommendation for funding allocations in the Namada genesis block. The foundation invites written nominations to be posted on the Namada forum in the RPGF category as separate threads. By opening up the process to public nomination, the Foundation hopes that recognition can be spread far and wide, and not just concentrated on already well known projects.
